Characteristics of Conservative Investors

The conservative investor is highly risk averse and very focused on wealth preservation through minimizing exposure to risks that can threaten to reduce wealth.

Conservative investors with a fairly short investment horizon timeline (1-4 years) typically prefer to avoid risk. Taking less financial risks decreases the chances that an investor will lose money, and increases the likelihood that they will achieve and maintain their financial goals.

The conservative investor typically prefers low-risk/low-return assets that are highly liquid, such as bonds or money market funds.
